Dashcam footage has shown the moment a man appeared to be punched in the head during a shocking brawl that broke out on a Gold Coast street at the weekend.
The footage posted to Facebook shows the road rage fight spark on the Gold Coast Highway on Sunday afternoon, with two shirtless men and a woman appearing to trade blows at a red light.
It shows cars pull up at an intersection when a man dressed only in shorts and a white cap jumps out of a gold Ford Territory and approaches a silver Ford Falcon with green P plates in the far lane.
What happened next is obscured by a large ute, but seconds later he is grappling with another shirtless man, who appears to be wearing a scarf, and a woman wearing a white hoodie.
A third member of the silver Ford, also not wearing a shirt, emerges from the driver’s side of the sedan holding a bottle and walks after the group.
He attempts to break up the scuffle but is unable to prevent his male passenger from hurling a can of liquid at the SUV as its driver hops back in the vehicle.
The Falcon driver, wearing a black visor, is also forced to pry the woman away from the front passenger door of the SUV before its driver emerges for a second time.
While his back is turned, he is collected by a swinging arm aimed at him by the male passenger, who runs from behind the ute and begins bouncing up and down as if ready for fisticuffs.
The incident ends abruptly when the traffic light turns green.
A Queensland Police spokesman said: “Police have not received a complaint about the incident therefore no further information or comment will be given at this time.”
The post on Dash Cam Owners Australia has attracted more than 1000 comments.
“Everyone involved should have their MD and vehicle licence suspended for 12 months,” one Facebook user said.
Another wrote: “Are these lights so notorious that a bunch of bogans know precisely how long they have to punch on before getting back in their cars and proceeding through the green light?”
